The Business Clinic – a growing Preston-based community interest company set up to support businesses in the area – is now working with Transmit Start-Ups to deliver the financial support to entrepreneurs.

Transmit Start-Ups is an official delivery partner of the Start-Up Loans Company, a Government-backed programme set up in 2012.

It provides finance, support and mentoring for new and early stage businesses and has already helped thousands of fledgling ventures across the UK.

The Business Clinic will help businesses write their business plan and assist with their loan application – and once the loan has been approved its team of advisors will also provide ongoing mentoring.

Businesses can borrow up to £25,000 for up to five years at a 6% per annum fixed. Businesses up to 2 years old can apply.

David Nelson of the Business Clinic says: “The aim of the loan scheme is to help entrepreneurs get their businesses up and running. It offers more than just financial help, an important part of the offer is providing mentoring and advice. There are no geographic limitations, the borrowing is not limited to capital expenditure and is not based on a % loan to value. The loans are unsecured personal loans which means that each partner or director in the business can take a loan." He added: “As part of the scheme, successful applicants will receive support and mentoring from us. They will also become one of our business practitioners for an initial three month.”
